Fidelia Sawai Horne's Graduation - UMP's 5th Convocation

My astounding wife, Fidelia Sawai Horne, yesterday graduated in style by receiving her awards at Universiti Malaysia Pahang's (UMP) 5th Convocation. UMP, near the town of Gambang, Malaysia held the convocation on Saturday afternoon. It was a sweltering hot day as Fie and her parents entered the hall for the ceremony. Myself, along with Florianna and Kong, accompanied by Abigail and a couple of her friends, roamed around first in search of food, and then in search of shelter.

Lauren was uncomfortable but behaved so well. We eventually found a nice lecture room to watch the events of the convocation on a big screen projector. By that time we had eaten A&W but were tired out due to the stifling temperatures. There just wasn't enough shaded areas available.

As we made our way to the lecture hall I saw on the television screen, my dear wife, step up to the stage to receive her honours as her name boomed around the place, "Fidelia Sawai Anak Michael Mulok". I felt very proud right at that moment. Even though the moment lasted barely five seconds, the world seemed to stop for me right there. She looked just perfect on her big moment.

After the ceremony was completed we met her outside and took some studio pictures together and a few more around the UMP grounds. But such was the incredible heat that it became impossible for us, let alone Lauren, to handle much more, so we made a dash for the air-cond cars waiting by the roadside.

On the way home we decided to eat KFC at Teluk Chempedak so we could take some more pictures at the beach. There was a floodlight illuminating the beach which just seemed ideal for taking pictures in the rapidly fading light. Here are the best ones:

And of course, images of the act every graduated student is dying to do....

Fidelia steadies herself...

The back swing starts...

Back swing has reached its full stretch...

The hat takes off...

And flies upwards...
...and out of sight...

...but wait, it seems there's a problem...

...the hat caught a bit too much wind...

...now she's on the move...

...the hat has blown way off course...

...she scampers after it with the biggest smile on her face!

I have to explain to Lauren that the lightning is getting dangerously close and the rain is falling heavier, so we can't stay and build sandcastles!

When we reached home I decided that we should take a few more family pictures together in our living room:
